At the end of July, UW-Milwaukee will be saying goodbye to PantherLink, so be sure to get ready for the migration to Microsoft Office 365.
UITS put together this handy site to help everyone prepare for the transition. Most of the info is pretty straightforward (delete emails you don’t need, get rid of super large attachments), but it’s definitely stuff you’ll need to know (especially if you’re using a mobile device or Thunderbird to manage your @uwm.edu email account.)
Changing email systems at a university with over 30,000 students, faculty and staff is a rather large endeavor, so the shift to Office 365 will actually start with an email and calendar hiatus. From 12:01 a.m. on July 25th until 6:00 a.m. on July 28th, UW-Milwaukee will be without an email and calendaring system. (Yes, I am looking forward to this brief but glorious-sounding break from technology.)
After Office 365 is up running, you’ll still be able to log into PantherLink. However, all emails and calendar entries sent to your @uwm.edu account after the official launch will be routed to Office 365. So PantherLink will only be available as a means of accessing old emails and calendar entries that haven’t yet made the migration to Office 365 (they will make it there eventually, though.)
